How Current Events and Weaving Combine

Here in Newfoundland, over the summer of 2025 we have been listening to daily updates on several wildfires burning in our province. Forests, barrens and communities have been burning and smoke is sometimes thick in the air. I have completed several weaving projects during this time and sometimes events/moods come out in the weaving process. The scarf, in the photo above, is one of them. This scarf is called “Smokey Skies with a Hint of Butterflies” (yes, I name all my products) I chose the colours in Smokey greys and charcoal and vibrant colours for the inlay butterfly motifs.  Hopefully new growth and life will appear from the ashes of these fires.
